We almost missed this chill coffee jewel, hidden in a busy strip mall that is also home to a cremation center and a women's health store, but this is one spot you want to seek out.
July 2012 Issue
It's not the type of place that stands out immediately. You're more likely to notice the large "Local Cremation" sign at the corner of Greenville and Royal than the quaint "Cafe Silva" or subsequent "Coffee Shop" one.

Tucked in a business strip at the southwest corner of Greenville and Royal, Cafe Silva is a gem in the rough. You don't really notice that it is in a sublime location until you get inside and take in the view of the adjacent park, trail and golf course.

If you've driven past Royal Oaks Country Club lately or biked down the trail nearby, you may have seen the Coffee Shop sign go up in the strip center at Royal Lane and Greenville Avenue.
It started with an obsession with coffee...and a name -- Coffee, NYC and Ayrton Senna.
Grab the largest coffee mug you have, throw in equal parts coffee beans, bossa nova, NYC, a love of travel, scones the size of your head, nature, fair trade, memories of the beach and a bit more coffee beans....and somehow you end up with Cafe Silva.
At Cafe Silva, Suraiya and I have designed a coffeehouse to be one we'd like to be in ourselves: a cozy, relaxed, coffee aroma-infused lounge. You can drive by for a quick pick-up or stay, sip and savour a delicious cafe latte, cuban espresso or herbal tea. While here you can kick back and listen to an eclectic playlist with the likes of Astrud Gilberto, Otis Redding, Dexter Gordon, Vanessa Da Mata, Bob Marley, Irma Thomas and more. Plus, you'll find an array of Suraiya's delicious homemade baked goods, sweets and snacks. We offer free WIFI and a relaxed atmosphere perfectly suited to a short or long timeout from a busy day.
We'll see you soon.
